Larry Jones joined Activant Solutions in October 2004 as Chief Executive Officer and President. Larry has over 25 years of experience in building, operating and growing world-class public and private technology companies. He has a proven track record in working with leading private equity firms on buy-and-build strategies, new business initiatives, high-growth business management and turnaround situations. His experience spans the marketing services, enterprise software, information services and IT services industries.
Jones was previously Chairman of WebClients, a Thoma Cressey Equity Partners investment in the internet marketing services industry. Jones helped the team identify new acquisition targets in this fast growing segment of affiliate, search and email marketing.
From 2002 through July of 2004, Jones was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Interelate, Inc., a marketing services business process outsourcing (BPO) firm. The Company, based in Minnesota, built, managed and hosted CRM databases for Global 500 clients and executed large-scale email campaigns. Jones was hired by the investor group to grow or sell the company. After several attempts to acquire add-on acquisitions, the company was sold to eLoyalty in 2004.
Jones was president and CEO of MessageMedia (NASDAQ: MESG), Louisville, Colorado, from 1999 until its acquisition by DoubleClick in early 2002. Under his leadership, MessageMedia grew revenues from $3 million to $35 million in 24 months. Earlier, as CEO of Neodata Services, Inc. (also Colorado-based), Jones engineered a successful turnaround, grew the company to $325 million in revenues and re-positioned Neodata as a marketing services platform for EDS, which purchased the company in 1997. Previously, Jones was founding CEO of GovPX, a provider of government securities data from 1992 to 1993, Senior Vice President at Automatic Data Processing from 1987 to 1993 and spent 10 years at Wang Laboratories from 1977 to 1987.
Jones graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in computer sciences in 1975, and earned his MBA from Boston University in 1980. Jones is a Director of several technology companies including Exabyte (NASDAQ: EXBT), Activant Solutions and Realm Solutions. He is also the past chair and current member of the Boulder Economic Council.
